This album is a cure too my heart it's keeping me alive.
We can actually make good music?
I cannot believe this was released in the 20th century! His voice has that old soul to it that you can't help but just sway to.
How to make good music 101
Leon Bridges and all else who created this masterpiece is teaching us all how to appreciate how good music should sound. This album is filled with good sound, good melody and substance. This album is the epitome of what musicians should strive to create. Whether a person enjoys rock, grunge, metal, rap, blues or whatever else, the music should have a high replay value. Good music you listen to for a month, but great music you listen to throughout the years.
My last extended metaphor would be to compare regular music to eating a grocery store steak well done. You can enjoy that steak and feel content. But the minute you go out to eat, and order that medium cooked rib-eye (Leon bridges coming home album), and your server walks over delicately placing it in front of you, you can tell there is a difference. The first bite is filled with all of the flavor you never new you would enjoy. Time passes as you consume every bit of it, and you put your knife and fork down, look at your accomplishment and say, it will be hard to buy another well done, grocery store steak.
Thank you young fella for reminding us all how good music is supposed to be made.
Amazing amazing amazing
I feel like I've stepped back in time and I'm sitting on the beach in South Carolina watching couple shag dancing on the pier. What a great album.

I wrote my review you made me change it so I've only got these words:you put me in the mind frame of Amy Winehouse and it's the sounds of the 50's I come from a musical background my daddy played the piano and sang in a group called the El Rays so I grew up in music keep doing your thang Brah you got some heavy hitters with you like Lela James but you do you and I will follow!
Bridges brings a lot to the table here with his talents. I am really digging the 50's-esque style. The distorted background is very refreshing.. to me. There hasn't been this type of sound for quite some time. The doo-wop riffs are right on point with the rest of the tasteful sounds. I am drawn to catchy tunes; LB brings that. Not all of the songs are catchy, but most.. and that's why I give it a 4/5. 🤘
P.S. There should be more music being made like this. Not identical, of course. The urbanity of this style should still be relevant. There is a lot of crap being made nowadays.
I don't think I've ever been inclined to write a review on an album I've purchased-- but wow. I feel like I've traveled in time when I listen to these songs. This is the best album I have heard in the longest time, words can't do it justice. Officially a life long fan of his work.
So refreshing to hear music like this. Be careful with it though..it'll be all you listen too.
